The AquaCrop-OS website was designed to feature the work of a research project at the Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute. The entire website was created in two weeks. I worked along with a student intern to develop this project.
AquaCrop-OS is a computer model that simulates the yields of agriculture crops based on parameters input into the system. The model is a modified version of the original. It is open source and adds additional features. The website helps inform interested audiences about this project and allows to download the application.
To expedite the development process, the website was based off Drops and Crops, a pre-existing website. The design was modified to meet the branding requirements for the project and the logo was altered to communicate this as an open source project with the ‘OS’ addition. The website was implemented using a custom WordPress theme. This would allow the researchers to modify the text and information on the website at any time.
